More Time To Get The Right Tool For The Job

They say a tradesman is only as good as his tools, and with the Federal Government’s recent changes to the instant asset write-off threshold for eligible businesses until the end of 2020, now is the right time to invest in the right tool for the job.

As part of the economic stimulus package announced in March 2020, the Federal Government increased the instant tax write-off threshold from $30,000 to $150,000 per asset. Businesses with an annual revenue of up to $500 million — previously $50 million — are eligible. Savvy business owners looking to capitalise on the opportunity now have more time up their sleeve, after the Federal Government extended the $150,000 instant tax write-off threshold for an additional six months. The stimulus package is now scheduled to expire on December 31, 2020.

When it comes to choosing the right tool for the job, a one-tonne dual cab ute usually comes to mind—blending a tough ladder-frame chassis for carrying capacity, a torquey turbo-diesel engine for efficiency and pulling power and room for a crew of five in the cabin.

Isuzu D-MAX

The Isuzu D-MAX ute has been engineered for that purpose, with a body on ladder-frame chassis powered by a truck-derived 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine generating 130kW of power and 430Nm of torque. This advanced Euro5-compliant engine delivers a smooth torque curve throughout the rev-range, for intuitive drivability and effortless towing and load-carrying performance. Isuzu engines are well known for their durability and real-world performance, and for decades been revered as the benchmark for light-commercial diesel engines.

If internal cabin space for seven people is what is needed, then the Isuzu MU-X SUV ticks the box as a practical family hauler, with up to 1830-litres of luggage capacity with the seats folded flat, in lieu of the rear tray. With a similar body-on-frame chassis and the same 3.0-litre turbo-diesel engine as the D-MAX one-tonne ute, the MU-X is versatile and durable, and for many businesses may be eligible for the instant asset tax write-off.

Isuzu UTE Australia recommends customers seek independent tax advice to find out how the instant asset write-off incentive affects their individual circumstances.

Isuzu D-MAX

Australians have for a long time idolised the humble one-tonne ute as the jack of all trades vehicle, and the practical family SUV as the family hauler. With utes and SUVs topping the automotive sales charts for the last four years in a row – and with the revised $150,000 instant asset write-off threshold – that trend doesn’t look to change anytime soon.
